Visit Helsinki In Finland

Cheap holidays to Finland should include a stay in Helsinki. The city is full of history and culture. The coastline of Helsinki is just beautiful and looks so inviting. The water is so blue it will remind of a picture instead of the real thing. Besides the museums, you can take a few of the tours or a day excursion. The Baltic Sea surrounds the capital of Finland and makes it one the most beautiful cities in Finland. A ferry can take you on a tour around the area. If you go during the winter, much of the time will be dark, but the lights are just amazing.

Living in Finland during the winter must be hard for people because of the darkness, but they have made sure there are plenty of lights to brighten up the days. You could say that during the winter months the city of Helsinki is the city of lights. You would be surprised to know that Helsinki has some of the most sought after Finnish art pieces dating back to the early nineteenth century. The Ateneum Art Museum is a popular place for visitors. The other museum to visit is the Seurasaari Open Air Museum.

The museum has old farm buildings and gives one a feeling of what it was like to live in the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries in Finland. The Island Fortress of Suomenlinna is a great place to visit. The architecture is amazing. Flowers and trees that add to its beauty surround the fortress. You can plan to spend an entire day at the fortress. There are museums, cafés, restaurants and art galleries on the island to enjoy. The little Finnish cafés are just peaceful and relaxing. You could have the worst day of stress and once you enjoy a few of the specialty items at the café, you will feel completely at rest with no more stress.

The Russian Orthodox Cathedral is another place to see when you are in Helsinki for your cheap holidays to Finland. The cathedral is by the peninsula of Katajanokka. The architecture is beautiful, but the scenery of the peninsula is something to see. The other place to see for more architectural beauty is the Temppeliaukio Church. The rock church was formed from a rocky outcrop. You will have plenty of things to see and do when you visit Helsinki, so plan for enough time.
