Cheap Holidays: Hotel TricksAre you hoping for a cheaper holiday? There are a few hotel tricks that can make it a lot cheaper for you to find a place to stay when you travel. The US is a great example of hotel tricks that Hotels need to sell out of their rooms in order to make their money. An empty hotel room is not going to please the owner of the company. This means there are methods to making the hotel rooms cheaper at certain times. A hotel may reduce costs for rooms 8 to 10 weeks before your travel date. This is not always true, but a good thing to remember. Next the smaller hotels or bed and breakfasts will offer the best last minute deals. They don’t have a lot of rooms. The lack of rooms means their prices are generally more, until the day of your vacation. Let’s use an example to explain this. An inn that is one company, no secondary locations has 30 rooms. At the beginning of the year they create prices for the rooms based on double occupancy. The rates will vary during the year for the high season where rooms are scarce, so you can expect to pay more than the off season when hotel rooms are always available. Holiday times are going to be the most expensive. So you call on April 10th for a room in August 10th. That is four months in advance. You are given the cost of 100 pounds per night. But you decide to wait until two weeks before you travel. You are told the price is the same. Still you wait. So on the day you are going to arrive you call up at 3 pm. This is standard check in time for hotels. Well the inn has 20 rooms open, so the price for the room you want is now 40 pounds a night. The example hopefully explained the cheap holiday hotel for you, but to sum it up: The number of rooms a smaller place has open the more they will reduce the price. If they have one room open at 6 am on the morning you arrive, you will pay full price. Chances are the inn will be completely booked. If only one room out of 30 is booked you can expect to get a little discount, but not as much as say having ten rooms left in a 30 room place.
