Because of the history and architecture in Samos, you will find something to see around every corner. The villages are inviting to visitors and the mountains are great for hiking. The island is all about tourism, but it still ahs it architectural charm. If you have the entire day to browse, you will enjoy the waterfront for shopping and dining. There is a long stretch of stores, restaurants and taverns to enjoy. The waterfront diners are wonderful to sit and look out over the harbor while enjoying a meal. Then there is the old fishing village where you can get fresh fish.
Kokkari is the most popular fishing village where one can get fresh fish. It is a charming little village that retains the charm of ancient times. If you would like a tour of the city of Ephasus, which is in Turkey, the tours start at Samos. The location is so close that there are daily tours to the ancient city. You must see the village of Ano Vathi, which is known for its butterfly population. There are so many different butterfly varieties that you could sit for hours and see so many different species of butterflies. The nightlife is sort of low key, but the Greek music is heard in all the taverns.
If your holiday to Samos is during the summer months, you will find the temperatures hot and dry. The beaches are always a great place to be. There are secluded areas for a little more seclusion, which is great for a romantic day. The scuba diving and snorkeling is always adventurous. The waters are clear as can be and seeing the underwater marine life is exciting. It is not usual to see people popping out of the water at any beach area. The Samos area is always bustling with visitors. The locals are so friendly and always willing to converse about the island and its history.
